Head Above Water Theatre Company is an emerging Irish theatre company, bringing the horror and thriller genres to Dublin and beyond. It was founded in 2015 by Conor Duffy, Angelene Milne and Warren Hanley.

Their first production, “The Joining”, was a collection of four short horror inspired original pieces, which had a successful run in the Sean O’Casey Theatre in June 2016.

Their second production, “Hound’s Hotel”, was performed as part of the Scene+Heard festival in the Smock Alley Theatre (Main Space) in February 2017. It will be one of the featured shows of the Galway Fringe Festival on July 20, 21 and 22nd 2017.

They will present a new play, The Lonely Luchador, in the Galway Fringe 10 Mins Plays Festival on July 29th.



Angelene Milne – Co-Founder & Artistic Director

Angelene is an actress, director and writer who hails from the wee county of Louth. Acting came out of the blue for Angelene, music was the foreground of the Milne family, so naturally she took it up and went on to pursue Music Performance in Kylemore College. Afterwards looking for a new challenge, she applied for the acting course in Bull Alley Training Company and has never looked back. 5 years later, she has completed 2 years with Bull Alley, 2 years with the Academy of Repertory Theatre, co – founded two theatre companies, directed and starred in numerous plays over the years.



Conor Duffy – Co-Founder & Artistic Director

Conor is a Dublin based actor/writer, a graduate of Bull Alley and the Academy of Repertory Theatre and one of the founding members of Head Above Water. Hound’s Hotel and Hide are not just Conor’s directorial début, they are also the first pieces he has written being performed for the public. An experienced performer, Conor has performed in everything from the Talisman’s touring pantomime to Dennis Kelly’s Love and Money and has even gone as far as to try stand up comedy. He currently lives in North County Dublin with his family and motorbike.


Warren Hanley – Co-Founder & Artistic Director

Warren is a Dublin-based and classically trained actor. He has played roles ranging from Cassius in Shakespeare’s “Julius Cesar” to Hatchet in Heno Magee’s “Hatchet”. From a young age, Warren loved storytelling and it wasn’t long until he realised his calling in life. He spent two years studying Acting In Bull Alley and a further two years with The Academy of Repertory Theatre. After finishing college, Warren became a Founding member of Head Above Water Theatre Company. Performing multiple roles in the first production “The Joining”, as well as writing and directing “A Mothers Monster”. Warren recently starred as Michael in “First Date… They Said!!!” and completed short film “Burnout” with Mervyn McCracken. He will be at this year’s Galway Festival playing “Dashel Hammit Homes” in the headlining play Hounds Hotel. Warren Is currently studying with Acting Coach David Scott and hopes to complete a three month intensive acting course taught by David.
